Perfectly Chewy Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour to the wet mixture, mixing until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix, as this can affect the texture of your cookies.

Add Chocolate Chips and Walnuts: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and walnut pieces (if using), making sure they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Shape the Cookies: Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each cookie. For larger cookies, use a tablespoon to scoop the dough.

Bake: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The center may still be a bit soft, but that’s what makes them chewy! Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Enjoy: Serve the cookies warm, and enjoy the gooey, chocolatey goodness!
