Oven-Baked Pork with Mushrooms and Cheese: A Hearty, Flavorful Delight

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Slice the onions and mushrooms, and set them aside.

Cook the Onions and Mushrooms:

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the sliced onions and cook until softened and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for another 3-4 minutes, until they release their moisture and soften. Set the mixture aside.

Season and Brown the Pork:

Season the pork with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

In the same skillet, heat a little more vegetable oil if needed and sear the pork on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Assemble the Dish:

Place the seared pork in a baking dish.

Layer the cooked onions and mushrooms over the pork, then top with the shredded cheese.

Bake:

Transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve:

Remove the dish from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or thyme, if desired.
