Nutella Pastry Christmas Tree: A Festive and Decadent Holiday Treat

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Lay one sheet of puff pastry flat on the prepared baking sheet.
Spread a generous layer of Nutella evenly over the entire surface of the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
Step 2: Layer the Pastry
Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top of the Nutella-covered sheet. Gently press down to ensure they stick together.
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry into the shape of a Christmas tree, leaving a trunk at the bottom. You should end up with a triangle shape, with a smaller rectangle for the tree trunk.
Step 3: Shape the Tree
Starting from the outside edges of the tree, make diagonal cuts from the outer point of the tree toward the center, about 1 inch apart. Do this on both sides of the tree.
Be sure to leave the center of the tree intact so that the filling stays in place while baking.
Step 4: Twist the Pastry
Gently twist each strip of pastry that you cut, one by one, to create a spiraling effect. Twist them about 2-3 times to form the tree’s branches, keeping the Nutella filling visible.
Brush the top of the pastry with a beaten egg for a golden, shiny finish once it bakes.
Step 5: Bake
Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the tree to cool for a few minutes.
Step 6: Decorate and Serve
Dust the cooled pastry tree with powdered sugar to give it a snowy look.
Optionally, decorate the tree with small rosemary sprigs as the trunk, or add candied fruit and colored sugar to mimic ornaments on the tree.
Slice and serve while still warm for a delightful, gooey chocolate-hazelnut treat.
