Nannie’s Buttermilk Pie

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place your pie crust on a baking sheet and set aside.
Prepare the Pie Filling:

In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, salt, and nutmeg (if using).
Add the beaten eggs, buttermilk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Stir until smooth and well combined.
Fill the Pie Crust:

Pour the pie filling into the prepared pie crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake:

Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. The top will be golden brown.
Cool:

Let the pie cool to room temperature for at least 2 hours before slicing to allow the filling to set properly.

Serve the pie as-is or with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
