Growing avocados in pots is a great way to have a fresh supply of this nutritious fruit right at home! While avocado trees can take a few years to bear fruit, with the right care, you can enjoy homegrown avocados and say goodbye to store-bought ones. Here’s how to do it:

1. Choose the Right Variety
For container growing, dwarf avocado varieties are best, such as:
✅ Wurtz (Little Cado) – A small, bushy tree that produces creamy avocados.
✅ Holiday – Compact size with good fruit production.
✅ Lamb Hass – A smaller version of the popular Hass variety.

2. Pick the Right Pot
Use a large pot (at least 15–20 gallons) with drainage holes.

A terracotta or plastic pot works well, allowing root aeration.

3. Use Well-Draining Soil
Avocados hate soggy roots! Use a light, well-draining mix like sandy loam with compost.

Add perlite or sand for extra drainage.
