Kitchen Rescue: How to Deep Clean White Plastic Cutting Boards and Keep Them Looking New

Basic Clean
Wash your board with hot, soapy water after every use. Always dry it immediately to prevent mildew.

Stain Removal Paste
Sprinkle baking soda liberally over the board. Add just enough hydrogen peroxide to create a paste. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes, then scrub and rinse.

Odor Neutralizer
Rub half a lemon over the surface of the board (or pour lemon juice), then let it sit for 5–10 minutes before rinsing. For strong odors, you can also use a vinegar rinse: spray white vinegar over the board and wipe clean.

Deep Disinfect (Weekly)
Once a week, lay your board in the sink and pour hydrogen peroxide across the surface. Let it fizz and bubble for a few minutes before scrubbing and rinsing.

Optional Whitening Boost
For stubborn yellowing, make a paste using baking soda, lemon juice, and hydrogen peroxide. Let it sit under sunlight for 1–2 hours to naturally bleach the surface.
