Ingredients/Materials Needed:
A ripe pineapple (with a healthy crown)
A sharp knife
Water or potting soil
A pot or container (for indoor growth)
A sunny location (outdoor or indoor)
A small shovel (if planting in soil)
How to Grow Pineapples at Home:
1. Choose a Ripe Pineapple:
Select a healthy, ripe pineapple from the store. Look for one with green leaves and no brown spots. The crown (top leaves) should look fresh and healthy.
2. Cut Off the Crown:
Use a sharp knife to cut off the top of the pineapple, about an inch below the leaves. This part is the crown, and it’s what you’ll use to grow a new plant.
3. Remove Excess Flesh:
Trim away any leftover fruit flesh from the base of the crown. Be careful not to damage the leaves.
4. Dry the Crown:
Allow the pineapple crown to dry for 1-2 days in a cool, dry place. This helps prevent rot when you start rooting it.
5. Rooting in Water (Optional Method):
Place the dried crown in a glass of water, ensuring only the bottom of the crown is submerged (about 1-2 inches).
Change the water every few days to keep it fresh.
6. Rooting in Soil (Alternative Method):
