Prepare the Pan: Start by removing any leftover food from the frying pan. Use a paper towel to wipe away as much grease and residue as you can.
Create a Cleaning Paste: In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with a little water to form a paste. Baking soda is excellent at cutting through grease and lifting stubborn stains.
Scrub the Pan: Apply the paste directly onto the greasy or sooty areas of the pan. Use a non-abrasive sponge to gently scrub the surface in circular motions. Focus on the areas with visible buildup, including the sides and bottom.
Soak the Pan: For heavy buildup, fill the pan with warm water and add a few drops of dish soap. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes to loosen the grease.
Add Vinegar: After soaking, pour in white vinegar (about 1/4 cup) into the pan and let it fizz. This will help break down the grease and soot. Let it sit for another 5-10 minutes.
Scrub Again: Using your sponge or a toothbrush (for stubborn spots), scrub the pan one more time. The vinegar will have loosened the grime, making it easier to remove.
Rinse and Dry: Rinse the pan with warm water to remove all cleaning residue. Make sure the pan is completely free of soap or baking soda. Dry it thoroughly with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Polish for Extra Shine: If you want to give your frying pan an extra shine, rub a small amount of vegetable oil onto the surface. This will also help season the pan if it’s cast iron, making it non-stick and ready for the next use.
