Cook the Rice: If you haven’t cooked the rice yet, rinse it thoroughly to remove excess starch. Cook 1 cup of rice with 2 cups of water on the stove, or follow your preferred method. Let it cool.
Blend the Rice: In a blender, combine the cooked rice and 4 cups of water. Blend on high until smooth and creamy.
Strain the Milk: Use a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or fine mesh strainer to strain the rice milk into a large bowl or jug. Squeeze out any excess liquid from the rice pulp to maximize your yield.
Add Flavor (Optional): If desired, add vanilla extract, sweetener, and a pinch of salt for enhanced flavor. Blend again to combine.
Store the Rice Milk: Transfer the rice milk into an airtight container or glass jar and store it in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days. Shake well before each use, as homemade rice milk may separate over time.
