Homemade Lasagna – A Classic Favorite for the Whole Family

Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic until soft. Add ground meat, breaking it up as it browns. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, herbs, salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar if needed. Simmer on low for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Make the White Sauce:
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes. Slowly whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer and stir until thickened. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg.

Cook the Noodles:
If using regular lasagna noodles, cook them according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Layer the Lasagna:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9×13 inch baking dish, start with a layer of meat sauce, followed by noodles, white sauce, and cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and a generous topping of cheese.

Bake:
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
