Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, finely chopped onion, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well combined.

Form the mixture into 4 oval-shaped patties.

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the hamburger steaks for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Onion Gravy
In the same skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for about 5-7 minutes, until the onions are soft and caramelized.

Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir to coat them. Cook for 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.

Gradually add the beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and cook until the gravy thickens, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 3: Combine and Serve
Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet with the onion gravy. Spoon some of the gravy over the patties.

Cover the skillet and simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Serve the hamburger steaks hot, smothered in the savory onion gravy.
