Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on one side of each slice of bread. Sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder and dried oregano on the sauce for extra flavor.
On two of the slices, layer the shredded mozzarella cheese, followed by your choice of toppings like pepperoni, olives, and bell peppers. Add salt and pepper to taste. Top with the remaining slices of bread, pizza sauce side facing the fillings.
Grill the Sandwich:
Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Spread butter on the outside of each sandwich to ensure a golden, crispy crust.
Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese inside has melted. You can press the sandwiches lightly with a spatula to help them grill evenly.
Serve:
Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and cut them in half. Serve immediately while the cheese is gooey and the crust is crispy.
