German Apple Cake: A Cozy and Flavorful Dessert

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Prepare the Apples:

Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Toss them in the lemon juice to prevent browning, and set them aside.
Mix the Dry Ingredients:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
Cream the Butter and Sugar:

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the Eggs and Vanilla:

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Incorporate the Dry Ingredients:

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. The batter will be thick.
Add the Apples:

Gently fold in the sliced apples, making sure they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Bake the Cake:

Spoon the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it out evenly. Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool the Cake:

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Finish and Serve:

Dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar for a simple finishing touch. Slice and enjoy!
