Wet your pet’s fur thoroughly with warm water. Then gently lather them up with Dawn dish soap, working it into the coat for 5–10 minutes. The soap breaks down the flea’s outer layer and kills them on contact.
2. Rinse Well
Rinse all the soap off with warm water. Make sure there’s no residue left, especially around sensitive areas like the eyes and ears.
3. Add Salt to Carpets & Bedding
While your pet dries, sprinkle table salt over carpets, rugs, and pet bedding. Salt helps dehydrate flea eggs and larvae. Let it sit for 24 hours, then vacuum thoroughly.
4. Comb & Repeat
Use a flea comb to remove any remaining fleas from your pet. Repeat the process as needed, and always check with your vet for severe infestations or for pets with sensitive skin.
Why It Works:
Dawn dish soap kills fleas by suffocating them and dissolving their outer shell.
Salt acts as a natural dehydrator, drying out flea eggs and larvae in your home.
Note:
Always monitor your pet for any irritation, and don’t use dish soap treatments too frequently—once a week is usually plenty.
