DIY Mosquito Repellent Mason Jars for a Summer Without Mosquito Bites

Clean your mason jar thoroughly before using it.

If you want to make the jar look more decorative, you can tie a ribbon around the rim or use other materials like twine or lace.

Add Citronella:

If using citronella candles, break them into smaller pieces and place them at the bottom of the jar. Alternatively, you can add a few drops of citronella essential oil directly to the jar.

Add Fresh Herbs:

Place sprigs of fresh lavender, rosemary, or mint into the jar. These herbs have natural mosquito-repellent properties. You can also add lemon slices for an extra refreshing scent and mosquito deterrent.

Mesh or Cheesecloth (Optional):

If you want the herbs and citronella to be contained while allowing the scent to spread, place a small piece of mesh or cheesecloth over the top of the jar and secure it with the lid or a rubber band. This step is optional but can help keep the ingredients in place.

Place the Jar Outdoors:

Light the citronella candle (if using one) or simply place the jar in a location where you want to repel mosquitoes, such as on a patio table, near a hammock, or by a campsite.
