Country-Style Green Beans with Bacon: A Savory Southern Classic

Cook the Bacon: In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set it aside. Leave 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the pot.
Sauté the Onion & Garlic: Add the diced onion to the bacon grease and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Simmer the Green Beans: Add the green beans, chicken broth, salt, pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to combine. Cover and let simmer over low heat for 35-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the green beans are tender.
Finish & Serve: Stir in the cooked bacon and butter, letting everything cook together for another 2 minutes. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve warm and enjoy!
