Choosing the Right Time to Plant Lettuce

Temperature: Lettuce grows best in temperatures between 55°F and 70°F (13°C–21°C). Heat can cause bolting (premature flowering), making the leaves bitter.

Soil Conditions: Well-drained, nutrient-rich soil with a pH of 6.0–7.0 is ideal for lettuce.

Sunlight: Lettuce prefers partial to full sun, but in hot climates, some shade helps prevent bolting.

Frost Tolerance: While some lettuce varieties can withstand light frost, extreme cold requires protective covers.

Planting Methods
Direct Sowing: Scatter seeds directly into prepared soil and lightly cover with compost or soil.

Transplanting: If starting indoors, move seedlings outside when they have 3–4 leaves and outdoor temperatures are stable.
