In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and eggs until combined. The mixture will be thick.
Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the base layer.
Make the Gooey Layer:
In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese and melted butter until smooth.
Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and cocoa powder, mixing until fully incorporated.
Gradually beat in the powdered sugar until the mixture is smooth and slightly thick.
Assemble and Bake:
Pour the gooey layer over the base layer, spreading it evenly.
Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still slightly jiggly. Be careful not to overbake, as the gooey center is the star of the dish!
Cool and Serve:
Let the cake cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before slicing. Serve warm for a molten effect or at room temperature for a denser texture.
