Cook the Apples: In a large saucepan, place the peeled and chopped apples. Add enough water to cover the apples. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10-12 minutes, or until the apples are soft and easily break apart with a fork.
Puree the Apples: Once the apples are tender, remove them from the heat and drain any excess water. Use an immersion blender, food processor, or potato masher to puree the apples until smooth.
Melt the Chocolate: In a separate heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave. If using the microwave, heat in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
Combine the Chocolate and Apple Puree: Slowly fold the melted chocolate into the smooth apple puree. Stir gently until the chocolate is fully incorporated into the apples, creating a rich, creamy dessert.
Chill the Dessert: Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until chilled. This helps the flavors to meld together and gives the dessert a thicker, more indulgent texture.
Serve: Once chilled, serve the chocolate apple puree as a dessert in small bowls or glasses. You can garnish it with a sprinkle of cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, or a few apple slices for extra decoration.
