In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
Gradually add warm water while stirring to form a soft dough.
Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes to soften.
2. Prepare the Filling:
In a bowl, combine the ground chicken, finely chopped onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, cilantro, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
Mix everything well until the chicken is evenly coated with the seasoning. Set aside.
3. Shape the Momos:
Once the dough has rested, divide it into small balls (about the size of a golf ball).
Roll each ball into a thin circle, about 3-4 inches in diameter, keeping the edges thinner than the center.
Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each circle.
Gently fold the dough over the filling, pinching the edges to seal and create pleats around the top.
Pinch the top to form a small pouch.
4. Steam the Momos:
Prepare a steamer by boiling water in the bottom part.
Grease the steaming tray or use parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Place the momos in the steamer, making sure they don’t touch each other.
Steam the momos for 15-20 minutes or until the dough is soft and cooked through.
5. Make the Dipping Sauce (Optional):
In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, chili sauce (if using), and sugar. Stir well until the sugar dissolves.
Adjust the seasoning to taste, adding more chili for heat or vinegar for tanginess.
6. Serve & Enjoy:
Serve the hot steamed chicken momos with the dipping sauce on the side.
