Cheesy Thumbprint Appetizers with Hot Pepper Jelly: A Flavor-Packed Party Bite

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Prepare the Dough: Roll out the crescent roll dough or puff pastry on a flat surface. If using crescent roll dough, pinch the seams together to form one large rectangle. If using puff pastry, roll it out to an even thickness of about ¼ inch.

Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Form the Appetizers: Cut the dough into small squares (about 2 inches by 2 inches). Place a small spoonful of the cheese mixture in the center of each square. Use your finger or the back of a spoon to create a small well or “thumbprint” in the center of the cheese mixture.

Bake the Appetizers: Place the squares on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Add the Hot Pepper Jelly: Once the appetizers are done baking, remove them from the oven and use a small spoon to add a dollop of hot pepper jelly into the center of each thumbprint.

Serve: Allow the appetizers to cool for a few minutes before serving. The cheese should still be gooey, and the hot pepper jelly will add a spicy-sweet finish.
