Introduction
Sloppy Joe Tater Tot Casserole is the ultimate comfort food, combining the classic flavors of a Sloppy Joe with crispy tater tots and gooey melted cheese. This easy-to-make dish is perfect for busy weeknights, family gatherings, or potlucks. With a hearty ground beef filling coated in a tangy Sloppy Joe sauce and topped with golden tater tots, this casserole is sure to be a hit with both kids and adults.

Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (15 oz) can Sloppy Joe sauce (or homemade)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional, for depth of flavor)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
How to Make
Preheat Oven – Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cook the Beef Mixture – In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart until browned. Drain excess grease.
Sauté Aromatics – Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the beef. Cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.
Add Sauce & Seasoning – Stir in the Sloppy Joe sauce, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes to blend flavors.
Assemble the Casserole – Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the mixture.
Layer the Tater Tots – Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
Bake – Place in the oven and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
Add More Cheese – Remove from the oven, sprinkle the remaining cheese on top, and return to the oven for another 5 minutes until melted.
Serve – Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
