Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder (if using). Make sure all the dry ingredients are well combined.
Add the Cheddar Cheese:
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until it’s evenly distributed throughout the dry ingredients. This helps prevent the cheese from sinking to the bottom of the bread while baking.
Prepare Wet Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and Dijon mustard (if using).
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix. The batter will be thick, but that’s perfectly normal.
Bake the Bread:
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it out evenly.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, you can loosely cover the bread with aluminum foil and continue baking.
Cool and Serve:
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy as a side to your favorite meal or as a snack on its own.
