1000 ml thick coconut milk (or the milk from 3 coconuts)
2 tbsp finely ground chili (adjust to taste)
1 turmeric leaf (if available)
4 lime leaves (or substitute with kaffir lime leaves)
2 bay leaves
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
2 medium-sized onions, chopped
2-inch piece of ginger, minced
2-inch piece of fresh turmeric, minced (or 1 tsp ground turmeric)
1 cinnamon stick
2 star anise
1 tbsp sugar (palm sugar is ideal)
