Baked Pasta with Minced Meat and Béchamel Sauce: A Comforting, Flavor-Packed Dish

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for about 3-4 minutes, until softened and translucent.
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, until fragrant.
Add the ground meat to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked through.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce over low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and the flavors meld together. Remove from heat and set aside.
Make the Béchamel Sauce:

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes to form a roux (paste). This will help thicken the sauce.
Gradually add the milk to the roux, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer, and continue whisking until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
Season the béchamel sauce with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg. Remove from heat and set aside.
Cook the Pasta:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package instructions until it is al dente (slightly firm to the bite). Drain the pasta and set aside.
Assemble the Dish:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce and béchamel sauce. Stir gently to combine until the pasta is evenly coated with both sauces.
Transfer the pasta mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the top.
Bake the Pasta:

Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the top is golden brown.
Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serve:

Serve the baked pasta with minced meat and béchamel sauce hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired. Pair it with a simple salad and garlic bread for a complete meal.
