Award-Winning Blue Ribbon Cake: A Classic with a Modern Twist

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.

Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).

Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Wet and Dry:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

Bake:
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Glaze:
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. If desired, drizzle with the simple glaze made from powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
