Authentic German Frikadellen: Juicy, Flavorful, and So Easy!

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef (or beef and pork mix), finely chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, mustard, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Use your hands or a spoon to mix the ingredients together until well combined. The mixture should be moist but firm enough to shape into patties. If it’s too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs.
Optionally, stir in some chopped fresh parsley for extra flavor.
2. Shape the Patties:

Divide the meat mixture into 6-8 portions (depending on the desired size of the patties).
Roll each portion into a ball and flatten it with your hands to form a patty. Aim for about ½ inch thickness, so they cook evenly.
3. Fry the Frikadellen:

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Once the oil is hot, carefully place the patties in the skillet. Avoid overcrowding the pan—cook in batches if necessary.
Fry the Frikadellen for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C) for beef or pork patties.
Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and set them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
4. Serve and Enjoy:

Serve the Frikadellen hot with your favorite side dishes, such as mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, or a simple salad. They are also delicious in a sandwich with mustard and pickles!
