Air Fryer Cheese and Ham Croquettes

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes to make a roux. Slowly pour in the milk while continuing to whisk to avoid lumps. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.

Add Ham and Cheese:
Stir in the chopped ham, shredded cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using). Continue stirring until the cheese has melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes.

Shape the Croquettes:
Once the filling has cooled enough to handle, take a tablespoon of the mixture and shape it into small logs or balls. Repeat until all the filling is used.

Coat the Croquettes:
Dip each croquette into the beaten egg, ensuring it’s fully coated, then roll it in the breadcrumbs to cover evenly. Repeat until all croquettes are coated.

Air Fry:
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the croquettes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving space between them. Lightly spray with cooking spray or brush with a little oil for extra crispness. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy.

Serve:
Serve your cheese and ham croquettes hot with a dipping sauce of your choice, like ranch, honey mustard, or a spicy mayo.
