Classic Pasta Casserole with Meat Sauce and Cheesy Béchamel

(A comforting casserole with layers of pasta, hearty meat sauce, and a creamy, cheesy béchamel sauce—perfect for a family dinner!)

Ingredients:
For the Pasta:

8 oz (250g) pasta

A pinch of salt

For the Meat Sauce:

2 tbsp oil

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 lb (450g) ground beef or ground turkey

1 (14 oz/400g) can diced tomatoes

2 tbsp tomato paste

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

½ cup water or beef broth

For the Béchamel Sauce:

4 tbsp unsalted butter

4 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 cups milk

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

A pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Salt and pepper, to taste
