This is why the bananas have these tiny strings on them

The tiny strings you see on bananas, often referred to as “phloem bundles” or “banana strings,” are actually part of the banana’s vascular system. These fibers help transport nutrients throughout the fruit while it’s developing. They run along the length of the banana and are more noticeable when you peel it.

While they’re perfectly safe to eat, many people find them a bit off-putting due to their texture. To remove them, you can simply peel the banana from the tip downwards, or use your fingers to gently pull them away from the fruit if they stick to the flesh.

They don’t affect the taste or quality of the banana, but if you find them unpleasant, peeling carefully or removing the strings manually might make your banana experience a bit more enjoyable!
